Legacy turned outward.

What we leave in the world.
At EC Pohl & Co, we believe legacy is not what you leave to your children. It's what you leave in them.
The Pohl Foundation extends that belief beyond the family. It asks: what do we leave in the world?
We see philanthropy as another dimension of wealth a way for capital to express values, deepen connection, and extend the family legacy beyond financial inheritance. Not grand gestures. Not recognition-seeking. Quiet generosity for overlooked causes, where modest but thoughtful support can change the arc of a life, a place, or an institution.
Embedded, not added on.
Philanthropy is built into the structure of EC Pohl & Co, not attached as an afterthought.
The Pohl Foundation receives approximately 5% of EC Pohl & Co's after-tax profit each year, creating a permanent capital base to support causes across the arts, education, wildlife conservation, and community wellbeing.
We treat philanthropic capital with the same care as investment capital deployed carefully, measured over time, and designed to outlive us.
The legacies we choose to leave.

The Foundation expresses the Pohl family legacy through four pillars. Each represents a dimension of what we want to leave behind, not just for our children, but for the world.
The Pohl Foundation
Every initiative is grounded in compassion, curiosity, and the conviction that no beauty shines brighter than that of a good heart.
Our signature event.
The Ambrose is a charity golf day born from the belief that our duty of care extends beyond our own families to the wildlife and wild places that future generations deserve to inherit.
What started in 2019 as a gathering of friends has grown into one of Sydney's most anticipated charity events. Each March, 150 guests come together at The Lakes Golf Club — not just to play golf, but to be part of something meaningful.
$250,000+ raised for wildlife conservation.
The event supports a rotating roster of conservation partners: Currumbin Wildlife Hospital (2020–2022), Taronga Conservation Society (2023–2025), and Wild Cat Conservation Foundation (2026–2027).

Philanthropy as part of Private Wealth.
For families who want to formalise their giving, philanthropy can be structured not just generous, but strategic.
EC Pohl & Co works with Private Wealth clients to integrate structured giving into their broader wealth architecture. This includes guidance on establishing Private Ancillary Funds (PAFs) and aligning philanthropic goals with family governance and succession planning.
Why structure your giving?
How we can help
Other than The Pohl Foundation, we don't administer PAFs ourselves, but we work alongside trusted specialists to help Private Wealth clients establish and manage philanthropic structures that align with their values and their broader wealth plan.
If you're considering formalising your giving, we'd welcome a conversation.
For organisations seeking support.
The Pohl Foundation supports causes aligned with our four legacy pillars: cultural heritage, wildlife and environment, community belonging, and education.
We deliberately seek out work that is hidden, underserved, or at risk where modest but thoughtful support can make a meaningful difference.
Requirements:
We only grant to organisations with Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) Item 1 status as endorsed by the Australian Taxation Office.
